On Thursday, Vodafone Idea Ltd. launched the internet of things (IoT) solutions including hardware, network, application, better connectivity, security, analytics, security, and support for enterprises. All these seek to digitize their businesses, said the company in a recent statement.
The news was released by a day after rival Bharti Airtel Ltd launched its IoT platform for enterprises.
The firm said it will adopt a consulting-based model to support businesses recognize their requirements, design, and develop personalized IoT, and the implementation of it”.
Meanwhile, the Birla Group said- “It will also offer them a tailored solution to be integrated with the best-in-class enterprise-grade IoT framework”.
It also added- “Vodafone-Idea IoT transforming the way businesses operate by reinventing operations, processes, customer experiences, and developing newer business models and revenue opportunities.
Through this, the firm will offer a range of IoT solutions across industries for better and smart infrastructure, utility, and mobility, on its brand new 5G ready network for all.
Abhijit Kishore, the chief enterprise business officer, Vodafone idea told the media persons- “ we are starting this journey today with three categories- smart infrastructure, smart mobility, and smart utility. We will keep adding to this”.
As India is already on its way to roll out 5G wireless services, and on the other side, service operators, equipment vendors, and other players in the system have initiated preparing for the launch of the next-generation technology to make a better place to function. Internet of Things is important to the roll-out of 5G as it will enable connecting billions of devices under the service.
It is the network of physical objects or devices that are embedded with sensors, and technologies or software to exchange and transfer data over the internet.
On the other hand, Ravindra Takkar chief executive said,- “The launch of Vodafone Idea IoT solutions is a strategic step towards making VIL business an IoT ecosystem integrator for Indian enterprises, and for positioning VIL to have an ecosystem play driving our transformation from a telco to a techno system”.
The firm has signed up to 20 partners who are using the firm’s IoT solutions. It will onboard more firms in the coming years, stated by Kishore, but didn’t name the partners.
Automobile firm MG Motor, merchant platform Pine Labs Pvt. Ltd, fintech firm Paytm, Kent RO systems, BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd, Genus Power infrastructure are some of the firms which are already using IoT solutions on Wednesday.
