Top: EV startup Simple Energy to launch flagship electric scooter on Independence day’21

The Bengaluru-based EV startup Simple Energy is all set to launch its flagship electric scooter in India’s electric vehicle marketplace reportedly on christened Mark- 2 on August 15. 

The reports suggest that the long-range electric scooter was first listed to be launched in here the first half of this year. But due to the covid-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown means that the plan had to be pushed back. Following its rivals such as Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450X, Simple energy’s scooter price is expected to range between INR 1 lakh to INR 1.2 lakh. 

Meanwhile, the CEO Suhas Rajkumar said- “We are thrilled to be announcing the launch date. 15th August is a significant milestone for the nation, Simple Energy aims at creating history with a world-class product made by an Indian company. Due to the ongoing second wave of COVID-19, we have chosen this date by hoping that the situation would get better. We look forward to the remarkable journey ahead.”

E-Scooter Mark 2: Specs

The company didn’t release the upcoming scooter’s features and specifications. But it did say Mark 2 will come equipped with a removable 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. It will range from 240 km per single charge in eco mode. It also claims that it is capable of a top speed of 100km per hour and can accelerate from 0 to 50 km per hour in just 3.6 seconds. 

The home-grown e-scooter manufacturer stated that it will come well-equipped with ample modern features such as on-board navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and touchscreen. It also states that the first launch will be done in Bengaluru, with its availability being expanded to Hyderabad and Chennai.
