The potential relationship between a Pfizer vaccination and cardiac inflammation in young men.

New Delhi: Israel’s Health Ministry said late Tuesday that it has discovered a possible relationship between Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE’s coronavirus vaccine and hundreds of cases of heart inflammation in young men following the second dosage of the vaccination.

The vaccination has been given to almost 5 million individuals in the country, and the incidence of coronavirus infections has dropped dramatically. Despite the apparent relationship, the Health Ministry announced on Wednesday that it will expand its vaccine campaign to children aged 12 to 16. The Food and Drug Administration of the United States has approved its usage in this age range.

According to research conducted by health experts, 275 instances of myocarditis were found between December 2020, when the vaccine program began, and May 2021, with 148 instances occurring within a month after immunization. There were 27 instances after the first dosage and 121 after the second dosage. In both situations, almost half of the patients had a history of medication.

“A comprehensive evaluation of the reports is continuing and has not been completed,” the corporation stated. “Adverse events, including myocarditis and pericarditis, are assessed on a frequent and detailed basis by the corporations as well as regulatory authorities.”
The majority of the incidents were young men, particularly those aged 16 to 19. According to the ministry, most people were hospitalised for four days or fewer, and 95 percent of the cases were classed as light.

The number of people who had myocarditis was minimal, and in most cases, patients healed with no consequences, according to the study.
