Swiggy announces four-day workweeks in May

Popular food delivery platform Swiggy has recently announced a 4 day work week during this month.

The announcement was released by the company’s head of human resources through an email to employees on Saturday.

The decision has come after a time when medical experts expect covid cases to rise further in May.

The severe and deadly second wave of covid is affecting businesses and taking 1000s of lives every single day.

Girish Menon head of HR at swiggy wrote that as a mark of respect for their efforts and the months that may be with covid cases escalating we want to offer a 4 day work week to all of you.

The email further states that “Please decide the four days that each of you would work and utilize the extra day to take rest take care of yourself, take care of your family, and friends as many of you are aware we have put together a covid task force and we can do more with more hands-on deck. Hence, if any of you would like to volunteer and actively help on the break day, you are welcome”.

Swiggy has set up an emergency support team to help their employees in emergency cases to excess ICUs and oxygen cylinders without any delay.

Not only this it is also offering a bunch of other benefits which involves salary advancements, leave encashment, and access to loans. Employees whose family members are covid positive can have access to self-quarantine facilities too.

In the past few weeks, many of the giants and startups came forward to support the nation in the tough times and easy access to medical facilities.
