Statue of Unity Crosses 50 lakh visitors mark

GUJARAT– India is known for its diversity, whether it’s in culture or modern and historical architecture. It is constantly considered one of the top choices for people all around the globe to visit India due to its vibrancy. And here’s the day India reached another milestone, “Statue Of Unity”, at Kevadia in Gujarat’s Narmada district has converged around 50 Lakhs visitors since its inauguration in 2018- said by an official on Monday.

In 2020, On Sardar’s birthday, the Prime Minister had launched a seaplane service between the Sabarmati river and the Statue of Unity in Ahmedabad, with the motive to raise more tourism to the country and better heritage. And India is one of those, which is loved by tourists because they get distinct experiences and are always eager to plan a trip.

“With the constant rise in the tourist visits, Built under the visionary leadership of Honorable PM Narendra Modi, the statue has emerged as an international tourist destination, offering multiple attractions for all irrespective of age.”

-said by Gujarat’s Additional Chief Secretary (Forest and Environment) Rajiv Gupta in a tweet

This 182-meter tall statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, solicited as the world’s tallest statue and built on the Sadhu Bet Islet near the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Kevadia. It is standing tall with pride, as if it’s the same day when the “Iron Man Of India” addressed the nation and said-

“Manpower without Unity is not a strength unless it is harmonized and united properly, then it becomes a spiritual power”.

Since then, visitors from across the world and nation have congregated at the tourist spot and several other attractions that have been added there for better cultural knowledge.

Why build Tourist Infrastructure?

Countries choose to construct tourist infrastructure including theme parks, or any other monumental statue is to attract people to visit, build curiosity among them to learn more. Secondly, it helps in boosting the attractiveness index, sparks commercial growth, and provides an endless chance to add to social development stability. That’s what India is up to- to achieve all-around economic growth and heritage conservation.

With this, it would need more connectivity via transports, which will steadily drive growth in commercial and residential areas.

At the time of inauguration, PM Modi flagged off eight trains to Kevadia from across India, to encourage people to visit the Statue of Unity than the Statue of Liberty in the States. It’s true no matter where we go, and look, we should always appreciate what we have and have- a rich culture with diverse meanings and more power! He also said that- this will increase the connectivity across India and more and more people can visit Kevadia without any hassle.

There’s no stop, as there are several upcoming projects on the go, namely a world-class zoo across 1,300 acres by the name of Sardar Patel Zoological Park.

Building immense wealth and employment

The Statue of Unity is surely our nation’s pride, but its major contribution falls in creating employment and wealth for the country. It will help people coming with new business ideas around nearby areas due to the increasing movement of people around the place.

Recent reports say- the government decided that the tent city will employ around 15% of locals, and give a better way of living. For tourists to have a seamless experience at the spot, relevant training will be provided to the guides, and also will need skilled manpower to function better.

The surprising part is, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the flow of visitors was affected, but it picked a great hike since it was reopened for the public in October 17’2020, after remaining closed for half a year.

Finally, tourism has become the world’s largest industry, benefiting nations by expanding enormously. It develops persistently and creates better employment opportunities, a large amount of foreign exchange which stabilizes the country’s economic and social development. Generating wealth and employment, opening minds, and giving better perspectives to the visitors. With continued accomplishments, India is showing strong signs of becoming one of the emerging global tourism giants, no doubt!
