Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and SIIC IIT Kanpur sign a MoU to collaborate on their shared goal of entrepreneurship development across borders, SICCI and SIIC have come together to provide a gateway of opportunities to tech-based start-ups to usher in an unseen era in the entrepreneurial ecosystem

Kanpur, U.P. Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and SIIC IIT Kanpur signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to commemorate their shared goals of education and entrepreneurship development. The event was graced by Dr T. Chandroo, Chairman, SICCI, Mr Maneesh Tripathi, Vice-Chairman, SICCI, Mr Tushar Doshi, Board Director, SICCI, Mr Johnson Paul, CEO, SICCI, Prof. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, Professor In-charge, Innovation, and Incubation, IIT Kanpur, and Dr Nikhil Agarwal, CEO, SIIC IIT Kanpur. SICCI and SIIC look forward to a rewarding association, as the two institutions will collaborate to identify young, indigenous talent to provide them with an array of incubation services. Both institutions’ leadership agreed to operate under a framework of cooperation to help their respective business communities flourish.

The association will explore various avenues to promote business and educational activities and programs between the two countries. Each country will facilitate networking events, including trade fairs, business missions, exhibitions, and relevant trade conferences, to stimulate the growth of early-stage start-ups. The one-of-its-kind association will provide start-ups in Singapore and India a competitive edge in the global market. With an array of services, both SICCI and SIIC will promote homegrown and international initiatives operating in the technology domain. As one of the first initiatives, both organisations will be working on a “Launchpad” initiative to recognise start-ups in the Singapore-India ecosystem with cross-border offerings. This is scheduled to take place on the 21st of April 2021.

Commenting on the successful association, Dr Chandroo said, “It is our pleasure to collaborate with an institution of prestige, such as IIT Kanpur. With SIIC, we plan to provide a well-deserved launchpad to our start-ups and those in India to create well-established global brands that thrive on excellence, innovation, and ingenuity.”

Prof. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay shared his hopeful stance on the future of technology start-ups, adding, “This agreement marks the beginning of an unseen era in the incubation ecosystem. SIIC and our friends at SICCI aim to support indigenous tech-based businesses that are sustainable, ensure value-addition, and provide local employment opportunities. An institution such as IIT Kanpur that prides itself on excellence will cultivate a fertile ground for technical solutions of the future, with support from SIIC.”
