Joe Biden: No more China will be powerful in my watch

On Thursday, President Joe Biden promised that they will soon outspend China in the infrastructure and innovation sector. He will be preventing it from outdoing the US and be the most powerful country across the globe.

Since taking office in his first news conference he declined to speak out whether he will be keeping the tariffs in place on the majority of Chinese imports o ban products that are made from forced labor.

Joe Biden mentioned, “I see stiff competition with China.” He also added, “They have an overall goal to become the leading country in the world and the most powerful country in the world. That’s not going to happen on my watch, because the United States is going to continue to grow and expand.”

Currently, Biden has now started to establish his relationship with China, which is the second-largest economy after Donald Trump’s imposition of traffic and sanctions and accused Beijing for the spread of the coronavirus.

Biden commented long after US secretary of the state Antony Blinken, national security advisor Jake Sullivan and their Chinese counterparts have traded criticism based on the human rights and national security at the time of face-to-face meeting Alaska.

Blinken mentioned that the US has already raised concerns about the issues that involve China’s crackdowns in Xinjiang, Hong Kong, and Taiwan on the cyberattacks. Yang Jiechi, who was a member of the Communist Party’s Politburo, has blasted and talked about the American hypocrisy and mentioned the US as the “champion” of cyber-attacks.

On Friday, China has sanctioned the nine British individuals which involve the member of Parliaments and the four entities in retaliation for the UK moves over Xinjiang. Notably, the individuals and their relatives are now debarred from entering into the country or trading with Chinese citizens and institutions as per the Foreign Ministry.  However, China had already retaliated against the sanction from the European Union.

On Thursday, Biden has already refused to answer the questions regarding whether about the traffic on Chinese imports or whether he is considering a ban on the products which forced the labor of China’s Xinjiang region.

He mentioned, “Look, they’re each specifically legitimate questions but they can only touch a smidgen of what the relationship with China really is about.”

Biden mentioned that human rights are most valued in the US and he will be continuing to work with the allies for calling out China’s violation in its treatment of Uyghurs and action in Hong Kong.

He also added, “The moment a president walks away from that, as the last one did, is the moment we begin to lose our legitimacy around the world.”

Biden mentioned that his prime intention is to invite “an alliance of democracies” to the White House for discussing the future and ensuring that everyone is on the same page regarding China and other glitches.

Well, the Biden administration is still under the process of developing China’s overall strategy, which involves how to treat the Chinese technology firm and maintain the trade deal which is negotiated by the Trump administration.

The new administration exclaimed that it will soon compartmentalize its engagement with China. Moreover, they will be approaching the relationship from a competitive standpoint which is need for working with Beijing in every matter like Climate change and North Korea. Moreover, the US has also emphasized working with allies instead of acting alone.

Notably, the Biden team is maintaining the same tough line which Trump took on Beijing’s economic a human rights practices.

This month the Commerce Department has issued Subpoenas for several Chinese communication firms and is soon adopting a Trump administration rule to block the transactions that involve Chinese services and goods in the information and communication technology supply chain.

Now, the Biden administration in concert with the European partners this week and announced sanctions on Chinese officials for alleged human rights violations against the Uyghur Muslim minority.

Beijing has denied the allegation which was raised about the abuse and continued to lash out at the international community for the spread which they considered lies.

However, the president has also signed executive orders with the aim to boost American manufacturing and strengthening critical US supply chains that involve semiconductors and rare earth. For this reason, the US is heavily dependent on other countries which involves the adversaries like China.
