IIT Kanpur Alumni Association held a virtual reunion for Silver Jubilee of the Class of 1996 on Feb. 06, 2021. It was a unique experience of conducting a reunion virtually, where over 100 alums attended from different parts of the world. It was great to see alums relishing old memories. The virtual reunion was instrumental in reconnecting many of them. Director, IIT Kanpur, Prof. Abhay Karandikar, talked about the key achievements of the Institute along with details of new and upcoming initiatives of IIT Kanpur. Prof. Karandikar added “Due to Covid19 pandemic, we could not celebrate re-unions of our alumni on campus. However, I was delighted to attend a grand Virtual Silver Jubilee reunion of the Class of 1996. There was overwhelming and enthusiastic participation by alumni. All of them promised to help the institute. Though it was held online, the whole event was conducted very well with a great organization by the co-ordinators. My best wishes to the entire batch”.
The Dean of Resources & Alumni and Secretary of Alumni Association, Prof. Jayant Kumar Singh presented various institutional initiatives supported by alums and the tradition of giving back. The batch coordinators led by Mr. Rahul Mehrotra proposed a pledge of an amount of Rs. 20 crores with an aim to support the upcoming School of Medical Research and Technology, and other initiatives. The entertainment session organized by IITK Alumni Association and StudentOutreach Cell proved an exhilarating experience for the alumni.
