China- the leading Huawei technologies Ltd. announced that it will launch its new Harmony operating system (OS) for smartphones on June 2, 2021. Moreover, its biggest focus will be on recovering from the damage done by the United States sanctions to its mobile phone business.
The major reason behind this is if it will use its operating system, it will no longer be reliant on android anymore. With the recent US sanctions, Google access has been banned for the technical support of new Huawei phones. Moreover, it also involves developer services upon which Android applications are based.
It is not being cleared that it will be launching new phones at the same time or more updates will come for existing phones. The interesting part to watch will be how fast the rollout might occur.
The new launch will go some way to mitigating the damage of the 2019 US sanctions. The sanctions also impeded its ability to design its chips and source components from outside vendors.
Additionally, the world’s biggest smartphone maker, Huawei is now ranked at 6th with a 4% market share in the first quarter.
Lastly, talking about previous Trump’s administration argued that the Chinese telecommunications giant posed a threat to United States national security. But this charge was fully denied by Huawei. It said and replied to “dare to lead the world” and bid to move into business areas that can’t be affected by US sanctions.
