Mumbai- In the early hours of Friday, a fire broke out in Sunrise Hospital of Dreams Mall on LBS Marg in Bhandup. As per the report, till now three people lost their lives.
As per Deputy Commissioner of Police Prashant Kadam, almost 22 fire tenders have reached the hospital to bring the situation under control. There were around 76 Covid-19 patients who were admitted to the hospital that is located on the third floor of the mall.
DCP Kadam exclaimed to the reporters, “Two casualties have been reported in the incident. A level-3 or level-4 fire broke out on the first floor of a mall at 12:30 am. 76 COVID-19 patients were admitted to the hospital. 22 to 23 fire tenders are present at the spot.” He also added that the rescue operations are in progress.
As per the report from the disaster control room, out of 73 Covid patients, 30 were shifted to Mulund Jumbo Centre and three others were shifted to the Fortis hospital in Mulund. The cause of the fire is yet unknown.
The three-person who has lost their lives in the fire incident has been identified as Mungekat(66), Nisar Javedchand (74), and Govindlal Dad(80).
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar mentioned, “This is the first time I have seen a hospital in a mall. This is a very serious situation. Seven patients were on ventilators. 70 patients have been taken to another hospital. There will be an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.”
