Apple targeted as part of around $50 million ransomware attack

As apple was quite busy with product announcements and launches at the time of the Spring Loaded event on the other hand Quanta Computer Inc which is one of the Taiwan-based suppliers became the victim of the massive cyberattack. As per the report, it is found that the hackers have stolen the blueprint of several apple gadgets.

Well, the group of hackers are called the REvil and is also known by another name Sodinokibi. As per the report, it is found that they have declared about the ransomware attack on a blog on its Dark Web site. This criminal attack waited to disclose the hack unless Apple reveals its new products at the time of the event. Quanta even admitted the ransomware attack and mentioned that they didn’t divulge the quantity of data that was stolen.

Before Apple finished the event, the group hacker had “posted schematics for a new laptop, including 15 images detailing the guts of what appears to be a Macbook designed as recently as March 2021.”

REvil has claimed to have stolen and encoded “all local network data” and has also claimed $50 million for the decryption key which exclaims it would unlock Quanta’s systems. However, the hackers also demanded that for a ransom to retrieve the stolen data which was reportedly turned down by Quanta. Thus, they are now trying to hold Apple to ransom. On their blog, they have continuously mentioned that the tech giant to pay around $50 million ransom by 1st May. Unless then, they will be now posting “new files” every day.
